For this project, I was asked to design a cover that played with the themes of being an underdog and nostalgia. Initially, I had free reign to interpret the album, but after presenting my first round of thumbnails, the artist requested something humorous that conveyed the impression of a bench warmer. Given the rebellious tone of his music, I decided that gasoline and a lighter would be an amusing and fitting way to "warm a bench." The bright colors align with his other album covers, and to stay consistent with his brand direction, his face needed to be on the cover along with his logo subtly hidden on the sweater.
