This project was an exploration of an object, I chose to look at cigarettes since it was a powerfully influential object in my life. We were asked to take 5 photos of our object, have 5 figurative representations of it, and 5 abstract representations.

Timeline Poster
I designed a poster focusing on the legislation around smoking and how it has evolved over the years. I used an isometric layout to depict how the environment we live in has changed as smoking laws have become more restrictive.
Educational Installation about the Object: For my installation, I represented the three systems of the human body affected by smoking: the vascular system, the nervous system, and the respiratory system. I created minimal 3D representations of each system in a limited color palette that would be easy to produce using either sheets of acrylic or painted sheet metal. As people walk through and around the installation, they can read about the effects of smoking

Board Game: "Tobacco Tycoon" is a game where you play as a big tobacco company. The goal is to make the most money by investing in one of four categories: farming, marketing, research, or lobbying. At the end of the game, the player with the most coins gets a card that converts their winnings into the number of people killed by their product. Each investment opportunity is a popup tab on the game board, representing a real-world problematic aspect of the tobacco industry, from exporting plantations to communities reliant on cash crops, to lobbying against restrictions, or marketing to vulnerable demographics.
